Molecular Expressionist Art... an invisible dimension
Revealing the hidden beauty of the subatomic universe.
This website is a portal into this surreal, "inner space."
You are invited to enjoy a panoramic overview of a few of the original oil paintings that have been created
over the decades since the artist's youth in southern California.
Aside from a visionary, deep-space, look-and-feel, this art genre pushes the envelope of aesthetic possibility in portraying molecular structure and chemical reactions in harmonious relationship to the universal principles of physics and chemistry.
Pictured here is an overview of original oil paintings that chemist, educator and artist G.D. Venerable II has completed over a 40 year period. Many are artistic commissions done for research scientists--including four Nobel Prize winners in chemistry--at various institutions from UCLA to UC Santa Cruz, UChicago, Maryland, Michigan, Princeton, Rice, Stanford, Wisconsin, and the Soviet (Russian) Academy of Sciences. He has also done commissioned works for the General Electric corporation and art collectors in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
The origins of molecular expressionist art are chronicled in Venerable's 4-volume memoir, a tetralogy entitled
"Footprints in the Chaotic Unknown: Art, Science, Oracles Kinfolk".
